The light hits

As my true fans ;) I hope, you still remember the legendary quote which I summarized last Fashion Week. If not, go to http://www.thesaltcaramel.com/fashion/2019/10/12/0bllym8xja3sgovv7d6v3vzy2sj86p

The change must take place. And it will happen. Sooner or later. Mostly in the context of fashion and major fashion houses.

Watching Fashion Week 2020 and closely scrutinizing the work of some artistic directors behind popular global brands and their stricte fashion campaigns in recent years, I feel annoyed. Just like hundreds, thousands... etc. of consumers. Don’t get me wrong. This is not criticism, it’s pure despair. In addition to what I mentioned last year, the improvement is still small, especially where is very much needed. Where is visionary? Where is the twist of fresh air added to timeless class? Where is the cut? Where is the development of the tradition which the founders built? Particularly nowadays people deserve high, true fashion. Not mediocrity.

Fortunately the proper light hits. Slowly but at a high volume. Many extremely ambitious, curious, full of new energy & sensibility talents paves its paths in the fashion world with great success and recognition. LA based Kenneth Nicholson, whose work I could admire during Fashion Week in NYC, greatly expands menswear with gender-bending looks. Through his history based visions, we can observe an amazing world in which men would have as many options as women when it comes to style. In London, David Koma’s never-ending party with his ultra body contouring collection strongly inspired by the feminine form gave hope for perfect craftsmanship. If it comes to LFW, the cherry on top was the show of JW Anderson, who precisely distributes strength and visionary between the own brand and Spanish Loewe. His newly "art of the trench coat" I could take away from the catwalk. On point! Also feminine movement, as the main fashion head, is stronger than ever in this tough industry. Zimmermann sisters (presented during NYFW) splendidly proved their intuitive sense of bold femininity with eye-catching romantic release. Carolina Herrera’s creative director has reliably opted for a refreshed and bright version of timeless functionality. And my personal winner - the Oscar de la Renta team. Class, class and once again class. Fabrics, cut and details at surprisingly high level. Oscar de la Renta's legacy - trainee of Cristóbal Balenciaga, is in good hands. But what about the rest?
